Pevco, a provider of pneumatic tube delivery systems to the healthcare industry, introduces Pevco Smart Seal, a heat seal bagging system that is integrated within a pneumatic tube station to make it easy for staff to guard against spills and protect fragile cargo traveling through a pneumatic tube system.
"Bagging or double bagging spill-prone lab specimens, valuable blood products and fragile pharmaceuticals is a time consuming and unreliable process," explains Joe Gaultney, Pevco's director of System Engineering. " Smart Seal eliminates that error-prone process and prevents costly system shutdowns caused by spills and reduces waste caused by damaged materials."
Hospital staff simply place items into the single use Pevco Smart Seal bag and slip the top of the bag between the heat sealing guides. Smart Seal holds the bag in place until the four second heat seal process is complete virtually eliminating any chance of error. UL Listed and engineered to withstand the demanding 24/7 healthcare environment, Pevco Smart Seal units can be installed within a Pevco pneumatic tube station or placed on a nearby countertop.
Pevco's Smart Seal bags, available in several colors to identity content or destination, fit securely within a carrier providing extra cushioning and support for fragile or small items. The bags are available in multiple sizes, as well in a patent-pending three layer, two pouch configuration that separates individual specimens or provides a protected area for paperwork.
In addition, Pevco announces the availability of Pevco Sentry™, an automated, mobile email alert system for hospital facility engineers. A standard feature in Pevco's latest pneumatic tube software, Pevco Sentry™ automatically sends email messages to any email-enabled device detailing pneumatic tube advisories and alarms to help boost productivity and system reliability, and to streamline maintenance.
"Pevco developed this new software tool to help hospital engineers respond more quickly to system-generated alarms and advisories," says Ernie Gozzi, Pevco's Customer Support Operations Manager. "Hospitals rely on our pneumatic tube system to deliver patient-critical materials 24/7/365. This tool enables hospital engineers to stay on top of system maintenance without being tied to the computer control center."
Sentry details the type of alarm or event being reported, location and equipment involved, and provides a time stamp to help identify response and resolution. Sentry also can generate an additional message as alarms are cleared. By filtering the alerts by station and type of event, system engineers receive only the critical information needed to keep the system and their facility running smoothly. Delivery settings can be cloned from one station to the next or configured to involve only certain stations.
Pevco Sentry™ can be customized to communicate with any number of staff as long as they have an email address and a mobile phone or similar email enabled device. Settings can be easily updated allowing engineers or supervisors to opt-in and out as needed.
Sentry is a standard feature of Pevco's newest Smart System software version 3.0. Pevco software upgrades are always free.
